The Queen

The image tells a simple but sad story of the the snow princess in her melancholy, as the fire god crowns his new queen. I did this piece after reading up on a comicbook called Fables. The coverwork done by James Jean is just simply amazing. I loved how he combined illustration and design and complicated and simplified forms. This piece is heavily inspired by his artworks.

This piece was done in both photoshop and painter. Lines were done in painter as i find its rotate tool invaluable for making proper lines, just like being able to rotate a piece of paper in order to work at comfortable ange. The colors and post processing were done entirely in photoshop.

Future City

Final assignment for light and mood class. Our brief was pretty broad, all we had to do is paint a futuristic city. Did tons and tons of thumbs and was never satisfied. Had to do a finnished piece by the last day so this is what eventually came out. Not entirely happy with it, but I learned alot during this process. Around 5 hours work because of too much experimenting and erasing. the city lights are a mix of painting and photographs, while the rest of the structures are done entirely in photoshop. Huge thanks to Vyle's brushes and his artwork which inspired me so much.

Orc warrior

I did this piece more than a year ago actually. It was a sketch during a lunchbreak while interning as a 3d animator in a production house. Found it sitting around in one of my folders a month ago and I decided to finnish it up for a portfolio piece. I still feel it isn't completely finish, perhaps a year from now I shall touch it up again heheh. This picture had lots and lots of layers. I really had no idea for the design as this was quite a spontaneous piece. There fore I would paint different areas in the armour on separate layers, play around with the layer blending modes, erase certain areas, and build more layers on top. Not a very productive way of doing things but i find it helps in producing happy accidents. This piece was done purely in photoshop.
